There are rumors stating that Joe Manchin might become the new Energy Department Secretary, which would mean that the current head Rick Perry will no longer hold that position. Nobody is certain about this claims, but if he wants a step in the right direction, he should take it.
President Trump has been trying to ensure that he has all of his people in the right places and the only way he can do that is to look at each person individually. This would be one of President Trump’s biggest steps. If Manchin were given and then accepted the role, it would let West Virginia’s Governor Jim Justice — a new Republican — appoint a GOP successor and bring the party one vote closer in the Senate to being able to repeal Obamacare.
“Senator Manchin has not had any recent conversations with the Administration about the Secretary of Energy position. He remains committed to serving the people of West Virginia,” Spokesperson, Jonathan Kott just stated.
Manchin was considered for the occupation shortly after President Trump was elected. But the job went to someone else. Republicans might be running out of time now, however. This means that they are going to try to work faster to get this done.
Joe Manchin faces a hard election game battle in 2018. He was considered for the job after Trump won election in November. His nomination was stopped partly because Trump wouldn’t let him pick his own staff. This according to a few people familiar with the staff selections, who described them on condition of anonymity.
But now that we are closer than ever to this position being filled, some things are coming through. This could help Republican lawmakers get back on track of undoing what the Obamacare caused, once and for all. Manchin has been around for a long time and knows the ins and outs of the business. President Trump should be able trust him to do good by his orders.
President Trump is our leader and needs to be trusted to do the right thing. If that means getting rid of Rick Perry then we stand with our President.
